Overview
When a collection of city-owned buildings located along Denver’s South Platte River were slated for demolition, the RiNo Art District collaborated with community members and civic groups to realize a creative community hub.
Since opening in 2021, the campus has seen tenants including CAST Colorado artist studios and gallery space, Denver Public Library’s Bob Ragland Branch Library, and Sandoitchi. Additionally, ArtPark holds year-round events, workshops, performances, markets, and public activations.
Our Approach
In her former role as Executive Director of RedLine, CAST Director of National Programs Louise Martorano coordinated satellite gallery and studio space at RiNo ArtPark.
From ArtPark’s Fall 2021 opening until 2026, Alto Gallery utilized gallery space and activated ArtPark with monthly exhibitions and free public programming in collaboration with CAST Colorado. The gallery was surrounded by eight studios, rented to artists at a rate of $235/month.
Impact
RiNo ArtPark has become an arts destination in Denver. In Alto Gallery’s time at ArtPark, it presented 57 exhibitions (36 solo, 21 group) and invited more than 13,500 guests into its space.
