Overview
The City of Englewood works with the Englewood Downtown Development Authority (EDDA), a quasi-public agency that provides structure and financing for projects that focus on Downtown Englewood’s economic vitality and quality of life. Together, the EDDA negotiates with property owners to redevelop existing buildings into a higher density, more transit-oriented area at Englewood’s CityCenter, CitySpark. Now, 11,400 square feet of once-empty stores are home to artists, community organizations, and entrepreneurs.
Our Approach
In collaboration with Englewood Downtown Development Authority, CAST Colorado helped to negotiate affordable space for two galleries and five artist studios at CitySpark.
Impact
These CAST Colorado sites reflect the first secured, accessible home for Los Fantasmas, a longtime artist collective working to address the marginalization of BIPOC artists by providing them with space to showcase their work.
Additionally, the sites serve as the first annex spaces in Englewood for Access Gallery and Arts Students League of Denver.
