SF Rec & Parks Transforms Historic Car Barn into Youth Performing Arts Center

SF breaks ground on $14 million Geneva Car Barn & Powerhouse Renovation
Please join the San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department for the Geneva Car Barn and Powerhouse Groundbreaking on Monday, March 19, 2018 at 11 am. After 20 years, the effort spearheaded and championed by the Friends of the Geneva Car Barn and Powerhouse to rehabilitate this historic building into a community arts center is coming to fruition.
With an inspired design by Aidlin Darling Design, funding from State and City funds, bond funding, Community Arts Stabilization Trust, tax credits, and in-kind support, and partnerships with CAST, the Performing Arts Workshop, the City’s Office of Economic and Workforce Development and District 11 Supervisors Safai and Avalos, we are ready to restore the Powerhouse, with arts programming anticipated to begin in Spring 2019.
