Ideas + Action 2024: The Future of Cities

Ideas + Action 2024: The Future of Cities is a convening of urbanists, local elected and city officials, and thought leaders from around the Bay Area exploring topics ranging from how to do infill development the right way, evolving our downtowns, creating inclusive public spaces, adapting to climate change, and using technology as a force for good.

This year, Carolyn Choy will be speaking in a breakout session titled “Evolving Downtowns.” She will be joined by Karen Chapple from the University of Toronto, Peter Weingarten from Gensler, and moderator Egon Terplan from UC Berkeley to discuss urban downtowns in a post-pandemic world. Join them to hear more about how cities should be adapting the design and planning for downtowns to ensure that they are maintaining the health of these hubs of economic and social activity.
