The Denver Center for African Art Presents: Yorùbá Splendor (Ọ ̀Ṣọ́ ́Yorùbá)

Located at Clayton Early Learning, the Denver Center for African Art has put together a collection of pieces that highlights and art and craftsmanship of Yorùbá artists. The Yorùbá peoples of Nigeria are one of the largest cultural groups in Africa. Currently, it is estimated that there are close to 50 million Yorùbá world-wide.

The exhibition features pieces from the collection of educator, former Colorado State Representative, author, and lifelong champion of African history and culture Dr. Paul L. Hamilton. Over decades, Dr. Hamilton assembled a collection of more than 1,200 pieces, driven by a commitment to sharing the richness of African art and challenging misconceptions about the continent’s history and contributions to the world. Created in partnership with CAST, the gallery offers a lasting home for some of his extraordinary collection.
