UNDISCOVERED Block Party is a curated collection of emerging artists and merchants celebrating San Francisco’s Filipino cultural district – SOMA Pilipinas! Enjoy a curated collection of local artisans, food vendors, art, and live music/dance performances.
2023 marks the 50th anniversary of Hip-Hop, with celebrations planned both nationally and globally. This year’s UNDSCVRD theme is Filipino American Block Party — as a Filipino American Hip-Hop centric festival inspired by Hip-Hop, this season’s events acknowledge the influence & impact it has made on Filipinos in the last 50 years.
Consisting of 3 monthly block parties (August 19, September 16, October 21) dedicated to uplifting the next wave of music, art, dance & culture, enjoy all the sights and sounds with a flavorful lineup of sweet & savory Filipino foods right here in SOMA Pilipinas!
UNDISCOVERED SF is produced & conceived by Kultivate Labs, a non-profit business accelerator, and Make it Mariko, SF event producer.

Featuring artists:
ChiChai Mateo
Cristine Blanco
Artist ChiChai Mateo will be highlighting upcycled fashion design work this Undiscovered. This will range from personal projects to garments and accessories for her brand Empire in the Air, and a SF-dedicated collaboration with printmaker Alyssa Aviles. Rice bag & fabric scrap bucket hats, tote bags, and a variety of tops will be highlighted.
ChiChai frees her Pinay roots from its history of colonial oppressions through her artwork. Being raised by nourishing yet firm and powerful women, her illustrations depict elements of nature as women spirits. Through fashion design, painting and mixed media, ChiChai aims to honor indigenous craftsmanship, the matriarch that has raised her, and Mama Earth.
Cristine will be exhibiting new works created during her time at the Real Time and Space residency. Over the summer she retreated to the studio for solace and developed a breadth of work inspired by ritual, life cycles and transitions.
