Join the San Francisco Neo-Futurists for a hands-on workshop for theatre artists and story-tellers!

May 30, 2026

Workshop participants will be led by Wallace on his creative process on making a “vibe” for audience members in the style of Neo-Futurist theatre. A handful of techniques for cheap theatrical effects and foley will be demoed then participants are invited to experiment! Afterwards we will show each other our works-in-progress and discuss. All participants receive a discount ticket to The Infinite Wrench.

Rules of Conduct

To ensure an uplifting and welcoming experience for all workshop participants, these rules are to be agreed and followed by everyone.

  • No racism, sexism, ableism, transphobia, homophobia, islamophobia, antisemitism, zionism, or hateful intent is allowed!

  • Respect each other and assume positive intent!

  • Ask for help when needed and help where you are able!

  • Consent is mandatory!

Who is this workshop for?

  • All bodies welcome.

  • Theatre/drag artists, performers, and story tellers interested in experimenting with design elements for their work!

  • 18 + participants are recommended for workshop activites involving unsupervised use of tools, lights, heating elements, etc.

Access Information

  • 447 Minna is a ADA accessible space with two single stall bathrooms, AC system, and water fountain. We own a mini-fridge if needed for food. No steps are needed to move about the workshop space.

  • KN-95 masks are required and can be provided. Air purifiers will be in each space.

  • There will be times we will be working in dimly lit spaces.

  • There is limited street parking around 447 Minna.

About the instructor:

Wallace Yan is a theatre artist, artisan, cook, and SF Neo-Futurist since 2022. He is a SF Bay area native and longtime theatre participant on the west coast. Their work has been seen from Whidbey Island in Washington to The Elysian Theater in LA. Wallace is a lover of objects, tricks, and tools which he incorporates in their story telling for audiences to, maybe, enjoy. He holds a AA in Technical Theater from Diablo Valley College and BA in Drama, with a minor in Queer Studies from UC Irvine.
